The discussion was focused on the role of corporate governance in building awareness of new technologies like AI. It was emphasized that Boards should not be afraid of technology but rather understand it and create dialogue with stakeholders. The importance of addressing biases and evaluating the risks associated with AI is highlighted. The Board's responsibility lies in empowering management to explore and test new technologies aligned with business goals.

The speakers also delved into the risks associated with technologies, especially cybersecurity risks. It emphasized the importance of verifying data and trusting decisions made by machines. The consequences of incorrect data can be serious, as shown in a case where an attorney was sued for using false information from Chat GPT. The speakers highlighted the need for proper data management and ensuring its trustworthiness.

They also discussed the role of Boards in overseeing cybersecurity measures and protecting proprietary information from cyberattacks. Different approaches to cybersecurity are mentioned, including quantum key distribution and red teaming. Overall, it is crucial for Board members to be aware of these issues and ask the right questions about their organization's security measures.

The speakers highlighted that cybersecurity is not just an IT problem but a business problem that requires accountability at every level. The Board plays a strategic role in understanding the impact on the business and

ensuring genuine mitigation efforts are in place. Building awareness, asking questions, challenging management, and being proactive are key takeaways from the discussion.
